Tyrphostin A51 is a potent protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) inhibitor which inhibits the volume-sensitive release of [3 H]taurine in primary astrocyte cultures in a dose-dependent manner. Tyrphostin A51 markedly reduces cellular tyrosyl phosphorylation level. Tyrphostin A51 inhibits both basal and EGF-induced human bone cell proliferation [1] [2].
